Garage Services

Garage in Kerry, near Newtown.

Located in Kerry, near Newtown, we offer MOT testing for classes 4, 5L & 7; servicing and repairs on retail, trade and commercial vehicles. Our high vaulted garage enables us to MOT motor homes and carry out inspections and repairs on large vehicles.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:


PCV Drivers – Newtown and Llanrhaeadr Depots
Mechanic – Llanrhaeadr Workshop

PCV DRIVERS: (Additional information about each of the positions can be viewed below. Please state which location you are applying for on your application form)


The successful candidate will drive buses and coaches on local bus services, home to school contracts and local private hires. You will collect fares and carry out various associated functions. In time, if desired and suitable, this could change to include more substantive private hire and tour work.


In order to apply for our PCV Driver positions, you must be 21 years of age or older and you must hold a PCV Driving Licence. If you are the successful applicant, you will be required to provide an enhanced DBS disclosure, paid for by the Company.

PCV DRIVER - LOCAL BUS SERVICE – NEWTOWN


Permanent full-time PCV Driver based at the Abermule Depot, near Newtown, Powys.


Your working week will be four days between Monday and Saturday (guaranteed working week of 37.5 hours minimum), with Sunday work being voluntary. Shifts for the work operate at various lengths between 0645 (first duty on) and 1945 (last duty off). Currently the shifts vary in length from 9.75 to 11.5 hours (subject to change as required). Starting, finishing and length of the day will vary greatly for substantive private hire and tour work.


Hourly Rate:  £9.00


PCV DRIVER - LOCAL BUS SERVICE – LLANRHAEADR YM


Permanent full-time PCV Driver based at the Llanrhaeadr YM Depot, in North Powys, over the Welsh border, and near Oswestry, Shropshire.


Your working week will be five days between Monday and Saturday (guaranteed working week of 40 hours minimum), with Sunday work being voluntary. Consideration may be given to a three or four day working week (with reduced weekly minimum hours). Shifts operate at various lengths between 0600 (first duty on) and 2015 (last duty off). Currently the shifts vary in length from 5.5 to 11.5 hours (subject to change as required). Starting, finishing and length of the day will vary greatly for substantive private hire and tour work.


Hourly Rate: £8.60


MECHANIC


We are inviting applications for a Permanent full-time PSV/Commercial Mechanic to join the workshop team.


Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining the Company’s mixed fleet of coaches and buses to a high standard, carrying out preventative maintenance, inspections, servicing and other maintenance of vehicles, carrying out roadside and running repairs as necessary, and completing all relevant documentation. You must be self-motivated, be able to work independently, demonstrating own initiative when organizing daily workload and enjoy being part of a friendly and dedicated team. You must be flexible with regard to hours and day of work.


Ideally, the successful candidate will be a fully qualified skilled mechanic with previous experience repairing and maintaining vehicles to a high standard, preferably with knowledge of PSV/HGV vehicles, will possess current knowledge of the maintenance requirements set out by DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) including diesel engine with electronic control, transmission with electronic control and a good understanding of electrical systems. Oxy-acetylene and welding courses or experience will be considered an asset.


Additional considerations:



  • Driving Licence is required

  • PSV Driving Licence or willingness to obtain your PSV Driving Licence would be considered desirable

  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience is preferred

  • Possession of own hand tools is a must


The safety and reliability of our fleet is vital in ensuring we provide the highest level of service to our customers. The successful candidate must understand safe working practices that comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Fire Safety Regulations.


Hourly Rate: Dependent on your experience


In addition to your hourly rate, you will also receive personal protective equipment, healthcare benefits, pension scheme, 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays), additional long service leave, free Tanat Valley local bus pass for staff, spouses & children, and discounts for staff, spouses & children for day trips and tours. Training costs to obtain PSV Licence will be paid for by the Company.
