Services 71, 81 & 558 - Disruption in Montgomery
Update Thursday 3 May

The road works are temporarily finished for the weekend so all 3 bus services will return to normal for Friday & Saturday.

However the Chirbury Road junction will be shut on Tuesday 8 May from 0800 for re-tarmacking so the 81 & 558 will, after that time, pick up at the Chirbury gate bus stop. The 71 service will not serve Montgomery.

Hopefully from Wednesday we will return to normal service.
------------------------------------------------
Update Friday 27 April.
Once work starts on the section from Broad Street down Princes Street to the turn for Forden, the 81 service from Newtown via Churchstoke to Montgomery, Caerhowel, Forden and Welshpool will turn around at Chirbury Gate bus shelter on the Chirbury Road. It will go no further into Montgomery. It will miss out Caerhowel.

Service 558 to Shrewsbury will similarly start and terminate at Chirbury Gate

EXCEPT. As the road works are 0800 to 1730 the 0730 and 1720 departures to Shrewsbury will start from Broad Street as will the 0747 service 81 departure.

Service 71 Welshpool-Montgomery-Newtown will not serve Montgomery but will go via Caerhowel instead.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Re-surfacing work starts on Monday 30 April along the main road through Montgomery between Maldwyn Way at one end of Town and the turn for Forden at the other.

This will take place between 0800 and 1730 hours Monday to Friday.

During Phase 1 between Maldwyn Way and Broad street there will be no change to the timetables. However once the next phase is in progress services will be disrupted depending on where the work is taking place. Passengers will need to check daily as to where bus services will pick up from if at all in Montgomery.

On Thursday 3 May the Town Council will be holding the annual street Fair in Broad Street so this will affect bus services.

We apologise for the inconvenience which is due to circumstances beyond our control.
