A brief History of Tanat Valley Coaches & Motors - a family business.
The 1990s again saw an increase in the business’ turnover and by the turn of the century the business had become limited and employing over fifty staff. Tours and excursions had now become a regular feature with exciting destinations being offered. 1993 saw a Tanat Valley coach undertake a three week tour to Russia and Poland. The workshop continued to grow and expand its operation. The old showrooms for a while became a very smart gift and stopover venue for travellers known as Conifers. Rival companies were bought or absorbed into Tanat Valley and so expansion and growth continued into the new millennium.

1998 saw the death of Elvin at the age of 90. His interest in the business continued to the last few weeks of his life. He delighted in seeing his and his bother’s creation being taken forward by his two sons and their families.

The new millennium brought yet new directions for the company to follow. Its growth necessitated the partners Peter and Michael to convert to a limited company. 2006 and we find this growth starting to show signs of being consolidated and the company entering the best period of its life. Then on the first of November a fire broke out in one of the coach repair bays destroying the workshops, five coaches and a double-decker bus. With heroic help from staff and managers the business continued to function and gradually re-established itself taking on further contracts in the Newtown area. This necessitated the purchase of a depot at Kerry.
2009 and the company employs over 90 people and offers a variety of transport related services. 88 years have gone by since young Bill and his family decided to buy a car. Where will the next 88 years take Tanat Valley?
