Express Services
X1 Aberystwyth , X2 Llandudno, X3 “Shrewsbury Whizzer”, X4 Aberystwyth and X5 “Wrexham Wanderer”
The three commercial express services X1, X2 and X4 are only operated through part of the year, full details can be found in our Timetable section.
There are two services for Aberystwyth; the X1 runs on a Friday only and the X4 runs alternate Thursdays and every Saturday but only for a specific period through the year. This gives you the opportunity of having a short break where you can stay over. After all, Aberystwyth is a popular seaside town and is the principal resort on the west coast of Wales. You can visit the castle ruins, take a trip on the cliff railway and stroll along the promenade. You may choose to walk around the busy harbour or indulge in a bit of retail therapy in the lively shopping area and, of course, it is home to the Welsh National Library.
The X2 service takes you to Llandudno (full details of days and times please see out Timetable section), a fine Victorian seaside resort. Queen of the Welsh resorts, Llandudno is a charming Victorian seaside resort located in a beautiful setting on the Creuddyn Peninsula between the two limestone headlands of the Great Orme and the Little Orme. Take a ride on the unique Victorian Tramway to the top of the Great Orme and visit the Great Orme Country Park. Amble along the crescent promenade and pier or walk on the sweeping sands. There is a wealth of family attractions, and with it’s wide shopping streets you’re bound to bag a bargain or two. It is the perfect destination for a day trip or short break.
The X3 “Shrewsbury Whizzer” operates on a Wednesday only and is great if you want to avoid the busy crowds at the weekend. Steeped in history, black and white buildings and home to Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury is a very historic town as well as offering excellent shopping facilities. Whether you want to shop ‘til you drop; have a leisurely lunch with a friend or visit some of the historic sites, let the bus take the fuss out of getting you there.
Last, but not least, is the X5 “Wrexham Wanderer” operating alternate Mondays.
This modern, vibrant town is nestled in the lower Dee Valley between the lush Cheshire plains and the Welsh hills. Apart from the obvious shopping trip, Wrexham Parish Church, is well worth a visit. It dates back to the 13th century and is dedicated to St Giles. It has an impressive steeple and is renowned as one of the seven wonders of Wales. Elihu Yale, is buried here whose bequest to a struggling American College led to the foundation of Yale University, USA. A replica of the famous steeple has been built on the University campus marking the link between the Church and Yale.
